Deep Tissue Bodywork

If you suffer with chronically tense and contracted areas, ActiveLife Deep Tissue massage can help. By focusing on realigning deep layers of muscle fibers and connective tissues, Deep Tissue massage can be especially effective on stiff necks, shoulders, chests and backs. In addition, it helps relieve stiffness in the muscles running along the spine, and in the arms and legs, while improving circulation and increasing healing.

Deep Tissue massage uses some of the same strokes as Swedish Massage, but with slower movements, deeper pressure and a focus on areas of pain and tension, rather than relaxation.

How Does Deep Tissue Massage Work?

Chronic muscle tension or injury results in adhesions, which are bands of rigid tissue that can cause pain and stiffness, block circulation, limit movement, and trigger inflammation.

Deep Tissue massage breaks down these adhesions. It relieves pain and restores range of motion. During a Deep Tissue massage treatment, Jeff will apply direct, deep pressure or friction across the grain of the muscle’s fibers. Deep Tissue massage can be done with clothing on, which will determine how the methods are applied.
